Hi, I’m Melody (she/her), the founder of Thought & Feeling and a full-time Registered Psychotherapist. After many years of working in customer service, and then in corporate client service, I made the choice to transition away, and dedicate my career instead to HUMAN service (which includes being in service to my own hopes and needs as well). I pursued my MA of Counselling Psychology in the evenings while maintaining my daytime career in insurance. I really enjoyed my job, and over time, noticed that I felt more compelled by the health & wellness aspects of the industry. Add in the joy of encouraging and supporting others as a yoga teacher, I learned that I wanted to be a professional helper. I’m proud to say I’m in my chosen  career.

My resumé isn’t linear, and I couldn’t be HAPPIER about that! The variety of experiences affirm where I am today, and allow me to relate to the day-to-day experiences my clients share. Hospitality, banking, work conferences, sales meetings, metrics, office politics, email miscommunication, desire for progression, work boundaries, balance, and the “let’s start a passion-project side-hustle!”..…I get it. Your unique experience will always be the focus and I won’t assume to know exactly how you’re feeling. I see you.

My practice is dedicated to affirming the innate value present within every human, by embracing my authentic-self combined with professional skills and ethics. People describe me as warm, approachable, friendly, lighthearted, and casual. I invite you to show up to our session as you are, too. I hold space for individuals to process thoughts and feelings through gentle exploration, collaborative curiosity, and casual conversation. As a reflective surface for your experiences, we co-create an atmosphere that allows your natural insight and wisdom to provide guidance. I will offer information and techniques along the way to support your journey.

My mission as a therapist is to help you understand that you matter through casual conversation, collaborative curiosity and gentle  exploration.

Personal Highlights

  • I was born in the Prairies and raised in BC, before settling in Ontario.

  • I’m a 1st generation Canadian and child of two courageous refugees.

  • My previous career spanned 8 years in the insurance industry (GBA) supporting health and wellness initiatives for employees and students through health insurance plan management, cost containment, financial planning, sales, and implementation. During this time I hosted educational presentations regarding insurance and mental health topics.

  • Pre-pandemic, I was a yoga instructor. I loved teaching Hot Yoga and what I called  “Slow Power”, paired with good tunes.

  • Coco sits at my feet during therapy. I’m really proud of how he simply exists!
