As a Chinese-Canadian, queer, cisgender woman with lived/living experiences of mental health challenges, I have always been naturally drawn to the field of social work and psychotherapy. From a very young age, I have witnessed the dichotomy of human experience: Laughter, joy, hurt, ache, and everything in-between. All emotions - all parts of you - deserve to be held.
My therapy practice is a commitment to upholding an anti-oppressive and anti-racist lense in my professional practice and daily life. Whether that is work or play, I live with the understanding that individuals are not inherently “pathological”, but rather it is the structures and systems that highly impact one’s emotions and experiences. I take an integrative approach and draw on varying therapeutic modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment-based Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I am also trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) and DBT for Eating Disorders (DBT-ED).
In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I am a Direct Client Support Worker for the National Eating Disorder Information Center (NEDIC) & group facilitator for Sheena’s Place. Previously I was on NEDIC’s Outreach and Education team, meaning I had the privilege of facilitating conversations around eating disorders/disordered eating.
