My name is Afshan Ullah, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist who has been working with children, adolescents, families and individuals in community mental health for over 12 years. I specialize in individuals who have experienced interpersonal abuse and trauma (i.e. sexual, physical, emotional abuse, neglect, witnessing family/partner violence).
I take a consolidative approach and draw on varying therapeutic modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment-based Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I am well trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT). I have combined cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness practises to help clients navigate their emotions and develop coping strategies. I believe in creating a safe and empathetic space for my clients where they can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. I aim to empower individuals on their journey toward healing and personal growth. “I find great accomplishment in discovering their strengths and building resiliency.”
